The Semantics of Headlines

An attempt in visualizing references to immigration and color-coding the value judgements implied by word choice and context. We live in a time where a lot of people get their news from headlines alone. Admit it, we have all done it. But how are headlines telling the story? How much is the selling influencing the telling and in what way do they appeal to us on an emotional level.

A data visualization project completed at Maryland Institute College of Art under the amazing tutelage of Eric Gunther and Jackie Littman from Soso Limited and an attempt in visualizing references to immigration and color-coding the value judgements implied by word choice and context.
